Join us on Tuesday, April 29 at 4 p.m. in Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art Auditorium to hear Estevan Rael-Galvez speak about the digital archive he's creating that's documenting Indigenous slavery across the Americas.
Rael-Galvez is executive director of Native Bound Unbound: Archive of Indigenous Slavery, a Mellon Foundation initiative. He'll explain how descendants, educators, scholars, artists, and storytellers can use this repository and show how it holds potential for transcendence and healing. Rael-Galvez earned his Ph.D. in American cultures at University of Michigan and has served as state historian of New Mexico, executive director of the National Hispanic Cultural Center, and senior vice president at the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
