A rite of college life is again unfolding on the 51ԹϺ campus. Dorms are open once again, but with a number of changes aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19.

It’s move-in day for students who will be living in dorms at 51ԹϺ but the process will be much different than in past years.

Incoming 51ԹϺ freshman Lia Cheung logged into the school’s online student portal from her home in Miami every day this summer to check on the status of her fall classes.

Today is move-in day at the 51ԹϺ dorms, @dylankendricktv reports.

A rite of passage started Wednesday at 51ԹϺ as students began moving into the campus dorms to begin a new school year. There are around 3,000 students living in the campus residence halls.

Cheerleaders, Hey Reb, university officials, catering and jazz ushered in a new student apartment complex on the doorstep of 51ԹϺ Monday, one week away from the start of class.

Some of the 51ԹϺ students returning to school this fall will set up college roots in some new digs. On Monday, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for The Degree, which is a 226-unit on-campus student housing community.

Angelyn Tabalba has a long list of titles after her name. She’s a radio host who gives listeners lessons about Hawaiian history on her show “The Little Grass Shack.” She works with the Asian Community Development Council, doing outreach on 51ԹϺ’s campus. She’s an officer for the Residence Hall Association, a rising senior at 51ԹϺ studying journalism and criminal justice, and an aspiring graduate student. All commitments that have been made easier because she has lived on campus.
