The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (51�ԹϺ���) and Las Vegas Sands are pleased to announce the creation of the Sands Institute for Chinese Language and Culture at 51�ԹϺ���, which was formally approved by the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents at its quarterly meeting on Dec. 5, 2024. Audience members embraced each other and wiped away tears as music from a piano and cello echoed around campus near the Student Union at 51�ԹϺ���.

The only person to survive the Dec. 6, 2023, shooting rampage at 51�ԹϺ��� said the school must continue with courage. 51�ԹϺ��� honored and remembered on Friday the three professors killed a year ago. “A year ago, my life was nearly taken by an act of evil. Through this tragic incident, I found a way to survive,” Daraboth Rith said. “We are far stronger than we ever realize.”
