Who We Are
The Teaching & Learning Commons (TLC) was formed in 2024 to empower instructors with the resources, tools, and support they need to create dynamic and engaging learning environments. All our efforts aim to improve both student and faculty experiences and outcomes.
Our Vision: The Future We Want to See
Our vision is an educational ecosystem in our community where every member, including students, faculty, and staff, is empowered to unlock their lifelong potential.
Our Mission Statement: The Strategy to Achieve the Future
Our mission is to foster a dynamic and inclusive educational environment that builds relational connections among learners and educators, increases everyone's sense of value and belonging, promotes a growth mindset, and elevates the value of teaching practice for faculty. This includes advocating for equity, diversity, and inclusivity within the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ community and beyond.
The TLC General Council and Advisory Board
The TLC General Council consists of members from every department at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ. The council provides guidance, expertise, and strategic advice to the TLC.
The TLC Advisory Board meets regularly during the semester to support timely planning and decision-making. Advisory Board members are selected from the larger TLC General Council. The General Council is organized into four groups, with one representative from each group serving a one-year term on the Advisory Board. In addition to these members, the Advisory Board includes ex-officio representatives from key campus constituencies, such as students, educators, and administrators..
