Mission Statement
The Racial Equity and Social Justice iRDA works to develop a collaborative environment that supports the pursuit of research and community-based activities that support movements toward racial equity and social justice. Through our approach, we prioritize trans-, multi-, and cross-disciplinary work aimed at deepening our understanding of how communities define, operationalize, and evaluate systems intended to promote racial equity and social justice.

Focal Areas
The Racial Equity and Social Justice iRDA has three existing primary research areas.
- Examining the impact of policy and practice on social, occupational, and educational outcomes.
- Exploring how community-based research advances racial equity and social justice.
- Analyzing the relationship between democratic processes and movements for racial equity and social justice.
Project Highlights
Our current projects include evaluating how shift work affects key social indicators such as health, employment, education, and housing, and exploring how community-based research is connected to and experienced within communities of color in local contexts.
