This award is given annually to honor a chair/director who epitomizes the highest levels of excellence in pursuit of the unit’s mission and strategic goals. Winners are announced at the annual Academic Achievement Awards Ceremony in the spring. The award is administered by the Office of Faculty Affairs.

Dr. Stoker studies media history, ethics, and philosophy. His leadership has been described as transformative, supportive, and effective. He considers this award as a recognition of the faculty and staff of the Journalism and Media Studies Department and their commitment to give JMS students the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to succeed in an ever-evolving digital media industry.
