The Creative Media, Entertainment, and Cultural Industries Interdisciplinary Research Development Area (iRDA) is issuing a . The purpose of this call is to build innovative interdisciplinary projects that will further define focal areas for the iRDA. Funding will range from $3,000 to $3,500. Up to four proposals will receive funding. Partnerships with the community are encouraged. Proposal Deadline: April 29, 2025, 5:00pm (send all submissions to: marla.stafford@unlv.edu.) Winners will be notified by May 5, 2025.
Must involve a minimum of two faculty collaborators at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, with the principal investigator being a 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ member. Additional collaborators from outside 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ can be team members. There is no maximum number of people who can be involved with the project.
Proposals should indicate how the project fits with the iRDA It is anticipated that the projects serve as first steps toward future iRDA-related work with potential offshoots and additional collaborators over time, and have potential for outside funding.
Seed funding can be used to support early project activities, initial data collection or analyses, activities or events, or other foundational work of the project.
Potential project areas may include (but are not limited to):
- entertainment engineering
- film industry engagement and workforce development
- sports entertainment & industry as a cultural phenomenon
- the business of theatre/entertainment
- community partnerships and the arts
- research related to entertainment and media
Proposals should not exceed 1500 words (excluding the title page and any references) and must include a brief description of the following:
- PI(s), team member names, role at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, and department affiliation. Outside team members should include their name(s) and organization(s)
- Goals of the project
- Describe the relationship of the project to the iRDA and how the project is related to the mission of the iRDA
- Activities of the project for which funding is requested, budget, and total requested
- Timeline for expending the funds
Deliverables
- Attend a fall iRDA symposium and present the project. The presentation should include project activities, as well as next steps for the project and invite discussion related to the iRDA development.
- Provide budget accounting and information to the iRDA liaison and Vice President for Research’s office.
Funding limits
All funds must be expended by the end of June 2025. Funds cannot be used to support faculty salaries, equipment, or computers. Potential use of funds may include, but are not limited to support for student workers, activities or events, or materials and supplies. Funds will be administered by the PI’s home department or college and a detailed accounting of the use of funds is required upon completion of the project.
