The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost has announced that Barb Roberts will serve as acting senior vice provost for academic affairs, effective July 1, 2025,through June 30, 2026.
This appointment fulfills a need for temporary leadership in the Office of Academic Affairs over the next year as Kate Korgan assumes the role of acting executive vice president and provost.
An experienced campus leader, Roberts brings more than 15 years of progressive leadership at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ and a proven track record of advancing student success, enrollment growth, and institutional impact. For the past three years, she has served as associate vice president of enrollment management within the Office of Academic Affairs. Before stepping into her current role, she was the associate vice president for recruitment and financial aid services, and she held leadership positions in undergraduate recruitment, admissions, and student programs and services. Roberts has a keen ability to implement thoughtful strategies and student-centered systems that have driven significant growth and strengthened student success initiatives.
This appointment reflects the need for a leader with broad institutional knowledge and operational experience across key areas of academic affairs, including enrollment management, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Global, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Online, academic effectiveness, career and workforce development, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Lifelong Learning, undergraduate education and high-impact practices, as well as student and academic success.
Roberts’ expertise and experience in these areas, her close collaboration with Academic Affairs leaders and colleagues, and her managerial experience make her well-positioned to advance the Academic Affairs mission in the year ahead.
During this transitional period, Alyssa Crittenden, vice provost for graduate education and dean of the Graduate College, will report to the acting provost and will continue to be a key collaborator with the acting senior vice provost for academic affairs and a member of the Academic Affairs leadership team.
The university will launch a national search for its next executive vice president and provost soon, with the goal to have the successful candidate in place by July 1, 2026.
