Barbara Childs recently joined 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's department of marketing and community relations as a public relations specialist.
In that role, Childs assists the department director Earnest Phillips II, APR, with a variety of projects, including 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ advertising campaigns and other university marketing initiatives.
Childs came to 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ from Portland, Ore., where she worked for Waggener Edstrom, a high-tech public relations agency whose clients include Microsoft and SAP, an e-business company based in Germany. Her duties at Waggener Edstrom included coordinating internal communications and special events for the agency and developing public relations campaigns for the Microsoft account.
Childs graduated from Brigham Young University in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in public relations. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America. Her office at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ is located in the Richard Tam Alumni Center.
