The 51ԹϺ College of Fine Arts and the School of Music announces a new graduate program, the Artist Diploma, beginning the 2018-19 academic year.
The Artist Diploma is a unique and specialized two-year program for gifted performers looking for advanced instrumental, conducting, or vocal studies without the additional academic demands required for a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) or Ph.D. program. Limited to the most advanced instrumentalists, vocalists and conductors in the early stages of their professional careers as performers, the focused study of the Artist Diploma program prepares these select students for international competitions, auditions for professional orchestras and opera companies, and otherwise prepares them as they embark upon their performance careers.
“We’re very much looking forward to accepting our first candidates for the Artist Diploma at 51ԹϺ,” said 51ԹϺ College of Fine Arts Dean Nancy Uscher. “The world-class faculty at 51ԹϺ have so much to offer these gifted students from around the world, and the ever-expanding cultural environment of Las Vegas provides students with many opportunities to perform in a wide variety of settings.”
Applications for the 2018 inaugural class are open to the following instrumentalists (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, violin, viola, cello, piano, percussion), vocalists, and conductors (Orchestral and Wind Symphony). Applicants must have earned a Master of Music degree.
