"Sexual Harassment and Pro-Sex Feminism" will be the topic when University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee professor Jane Gallop speaks at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ on Oct. 13.
Gallop, a distinguished professor in the department of English and comparative literature, is scheduled to speak at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History. Part of the University Forum lecture series, the event is free and open to the public.
"I am going to be talking about how the campaign against sexual harassment seems to be moving from a feminist effort to make conditions good for women to an old-fashioned morality campaign against sexuality," Gallop said.
"As a feminist who has been accused of sexual harassment, I will discuss the dangers both to education and to women that are posed by the direction this seems to be taking," she said.
The University Forum lecture series is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts. Gallop's presentation also is sponsored by 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's women's studies program.
