Nevada's regents have officially approved 51�ԹϺ��� Provost and Executive Vice President Dr. Chris Heavey as the university's new interim president.

After serving at the helm of the university for nearly two months, Chris Heavey has been named 51�ԹϺ���’s interim president.

Four Nevada institutions – UNR, the University of Nevada Las Vegas (51�ԹϺ���), Nevada State University (NSU), and the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) – are members of AAC&U. Late Thursday a spokesperson for NSU President DeRionne Pollard notified the Current that Pollard had signed on to the letter. 51�ԹϺ���’s Interim President Chris Heavey signed on Friday, according to a spokesperson.

Interim NSHE Chancellor Patty Charlton will formally recommend appointing him at Thursday's meeting. NSHE chose Heavey for the interim role after holding a series of listening sessions with 51�ԹϺ��� constituencies in March, according to the agenda item.
