The Rebel Service Council and Adopt-A-School program are sponsoring a school supply drive for local elementary school children. Donation boxes will be set up throughout campus through Sept. 13, when students and community partners will host a "stuff the truck" event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Courtyard. School supplies dropped off throughout the event will be loaded into trucks donated by Findlay Toyota, and the contents will be delivered to 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's adopted schools that afternoon.
The supplies will be distributed to five local at-risk schools: Cynthia Cunningham Elementary, Oran K. Gragson Elementary, Dean Petersen Professional Development School, Paradise Professional Development School and Ruth Fyfe Empowerment School.
51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's Adopt-A-School program began in 2009 as a way to introduce higher education to children at an early age. Throughout the program, elementary school students are encouraged to excel academically and are rewarded with prizes.
