Congratulations to 51ԹϺ School of Dental Medicine's Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry residency program for its successful accreditation site visit earlier this year. The Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) granted “approval without reporting requirements” status to the program, which has maintained its accredited status since 2008. Special thanks to program director Dr. Lee Roundy and his team of faculty and staff, as well as those employees from other areas in the school, for their thorough preparation prior to and noteworthy preparedness during CODA’s visit.
The Commission on Dental Accreditation bases its objectives on the premise that institutions providing dental education programs will strive continually to improve the standards and quality of their scholarship and teaching. The Commission expects institutions offering such programs to have academic excellence as their primary goal and to conduct their programs in a manner consistent with the purposes and methods of higher education.
Dental education programs periodically undergo peer review by professionals in dentistry and education in order to help institutions analyze these programs, assess their educational effectiveness, and identify methods and resources that can be used to strengthen them. The program’s next site visit is scheduled for 2032.
