Sue Wainscott (Libraries) recently was elected president of the Advisory Board of the , a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works with federal agencies to connect people with their public lands. Originally known as the Red Rock Canyon Interpretive Association (founded in 1988), the conservancy has staff and volunteers who work extensively at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area (Mount Charleston). As a non-profit partner to several federal agencies that manage public lands, Southern Nevada Conservancy is able to provide enhanced educational and recreational opportunities as well as improved visitor services at these and other beautiful destinations, including Desert National Wildlife Refuge Complex and California Trail Interpretive Center outside Elko. Wainscott, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's engineering librarian, first was elected to serve on the board in 2013.
