In spring 2014, the office of housing and residential life established a sustainability team to educate residents and promote sustainability in the residence halls. In February and March, the residence halls competed in the Campus Conservation Nationals. This year, 345,000 students and staff members from 125 schools participated in CCN, the world's largest electricity and water reduction competition for higher education. In just three weeks, they saved $290,000 and achieved CO2 reductions equivalent to taking 182 homes off the grid for a year. 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ residence halls placed in the top 5 schools for reducing water use. We saved 516.9 gallons of water during a three-week period and had a 4.1 percent overall reduction (Dayton complex was the the most successful building with a 15.9 percent reduction).
