Karl Aharonian, Jeffrey Martin, and Henry Krasner, Kavita Batra (Medicine) and Meher Yepremyan (Retina Consultants of Nevada, Las Vegas), recently published a study titled, ",” in the journal Clinical Ophthalmology.
This study stands out for its methodological strength in addressing confounding factors by focusing on an older, less physically active population and adjusting for patient volume fluctuations using incidence ratios. Contrary to prior literature, the findings revealed no significant association between meteorological variables and the incidence of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD), suggesting that environmental factors may play a limited role in older individuals. Aharonian, Martin, and Krasner (current medical students) conducted this research under Dr. Batra’s structured group mentoring model, which supports collaborative student-led investigation.
