John Haberstroh (History) facilitated a workshop discussion called "Chatting about ChatGPT II" at the annual meeting of the Pacific Coast Branch of the American Historical Association (PCB-AHA) at the University of Hawaii, Manoa on August 2. This discussion continued a conversation began at last year's annual meeting on the instructional, philosophical, and practical implications of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) for history education. Haberstroh reported on a year's worth of experimentation with "AI Non-use Pledges" as a means of engaging students in dialogue about the pitfalls of unethical and unreasoned use of GenAI products.
