Francis Cucinotta (Health Physics) served as guest editor for a special issue of Radiation and Dosimetry, which focused on the 17th International Symposium on Microdosimetry that addressed ionising radiation quality, molecular mechanisms, cellular effects, and their consequences for low-level risk assessment and radiation therapy.
He also co-authored with Eliedonna Cacao (Health Physics) “Risks of Cognitive Detriments after Low Dose Heavy Ion and Proton Exposures,” which concluded that future research should focus on estimating heavy ion threshold doses carried out with experimental designs aimed at understating causative mechanisms, and establish if mitigation is needed. The article appeared in the May issue of the International Journal of Radiation Biology. Cacao is a post-doctorate student.
