Aude Picard, Nader Nabeh, and Cheyenne Brokaw (all Life Sciences) published a research article, " in the journal Frontiers in Microbiology. Organic carbon preservation in sedimentary environments is a critical process that indirectly regulates carbon dioxide and oxygen concentrations in the atmosphere. The study highlights the role of sulfate-reducing bacteria in producing stable biominerals that preserve organic carbon for long periods of time under anoxic conditions. Brokaw and Nabeh are undergraduates.
