A variety of committees, under the umbrella of the Graduate Council, work in concert with the Graduate College dean to establish policies and procedures for the Graduate College. The Graduate Council includes one delegate from each academic department that sponsors an advanced degree program, plus representatives from the Graduate Student and Professional Association.
The following committees play a critical role in forming procedures and policies that affect the Graduate College, its faculty members, and its students.

All Council Committee meetings are typically held on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. via Zoom unless otherwise noted.
Committees
Graduate College Executive Committee (GCEC)
Consists of chairs of all Graduate College Committees, Graduate Council Chair, and the GPSA president. The Executive Committee advises the Graduate College dean and aids in strategic planning for the Graduate College.
Graduate Course Review Committee (GCRC)
Reviews and approves new graduate courses and course revisions.
Graduate Programs Committee (GPC)
Reviews and recommends approval of new graduate degree programs and changes to existing programs.
Graduate College Awards Committee (GAWC)
Develops guidelines for awarding graduate student funding for fellowships and scholarships, selects fellowship and scholarship recipients, and selects outstanding graduate faculty and outstanding thesis & dissertation award winners.
Graduate Program Review Committee (GPRC)
Works in conjunction with the Faculty Senate to review existing graduate programs.
Graduate Appeals and Legal Issues Committee (GALIC)
Reviews and develops policies related to faculty and student welfare, and serves as reviewing and recommending body on select faculty and student academic appeals.
The Grad Academy (TGA) Advisory Board
Plans and executes outstanding leadership, professional, and career development opportunities for graduate and professional students.
Postdoctoral Advisory Board
Ensures support for Postdocs and their graduate faculty mentors, and ensuring smooth and efficient operation of all aspects of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs in the Graduate College.
Ad hoc Working Groups
For the 2025-2026 academic year, five Ad hoc Graduate Committees will support graduate initiatives. They are as follows:
- Graduate Research and Student Success (GRSS), typically meets Mondays, 2-3 p.m.
- Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs, typically meets Thursdays, noon-1 p.m.
- Graduate Associate Deans Council, typically meets Wednesdays, noon-1 p.m.
- Graduate Assistant Mediation Advisory (GAMAC), typically meets Fridays, 1-2 p.m.
- Graduate Students Research Awards (GSRAC), typically meets Tuesdays, 1-2 p.m.
