Facilities Services

Our department consists of facilities professionals who support and maintain 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's learning, research, and working environments, and equipment and assets.

Our Services

Re-keying and re-programming of existing locks and access controls.

  • Restroom servicing (e.g., replenishing paper towels, soap, etc.)
  • Deep-cleaning of office spaces (approval required)
  • Scheduled cleaning
  • Trash pick-up
  • Flooding, major leaks
  • Biohazard cleanup (bodily waste, blood, vomit, etc.)

  • Weekly pick-ups from building common areas
  • Special pick up for recyclable materials that do not fit into a unit's recycling bins, such as:
    • Oversized cardboard
    • Bags of shredded paper
    • Boxes of binders/reusable items
    • Ink and toner cartridges
      • Note: Ink and toner cartridges must be separated from other items. Please place them next to your recycling bin.
    • Shred toter exchanges
  • Office recycling bin cleaning

Maintenance and repair services for campus vehicles, light and heavy-duty equipment, and electric carts, including:

  • Battery capacity check
  • Tire wear and inflation check
  • Brake system check and adjustment
  • Grease and lubricate all components
  • Check and add fluids
  • Smog check
  • Oil change

  • Plant installation, healthcare, and maintenance
  • Infrastructure maintenance (e.g., benches, pavers, planters, etc.)
  • Irrigation services

  • Carpet replacement at the end of useful life
  • Electrical
  • Fire extinguisher and fire sprinkler maintenance / replacement
  • Plumbing (e.g., leaky faucet, running toilets, etc.)
  • Roofing inspections and repairs
  • Welding repairs on iron and aluminum (e.g. handrails, expansion tanks, metal fabrication, etc.)

  • Modifying, supplementing, or replacing items associated with an existing facility or facility component related to deferred maintenance.
  • Modifying, changing, or replacing deferred maintenance items that are associated with the existing function, layout, purpose or configuration of an existing facility
  • Replacing or modernizing deferred maintenance items in a portion and/or a component of an existing facility
  • Replacing facility systems that are intended to serve the same general purpose and function of the existing facility, systems or component (e.g., due to age, condition, functional obsolescence, etc.)  
  • Replacement, supplementation, or modernization of existing or consequential items for:
    •  Roofing
    • Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)
    • Building controls
    • Electrical
    • Plumbing
    • Finishes
    • Built-in furniture and enclosures
    • Access paths 
    • Building environmental controls

Facilities Management Responsibilities Departmental Responsibilities

Departments will not be billed for the following services:

  • Renewal and replacement of state-supported facilities.
  • All maintenance and repair of state-supported property and installed, non-programmatic systems and equipment
  • Routine grounds upkeep and planned custodial services.
  • Payment of all basic utilities: gas, water, and electric.
  • Regulatory compliance inspections and services.

Your department will be responsible for paying for the following services:

  • All customer-requested renovations and space conversions due to a programmatic change.
  • Replacing carpet because of its color or before the end of its useful life.
  • Maintenance and repair of non state-supported property, personal property, and programmatic systems and equipment.
  • Services provided as a convenience to the customer that are not related to maintenance and repair activities as defined under Facilities Management responsibilities.
  • Facilities Management support for on-campus events.
