Colleagues,

I am happy to announce that Nadia Gomez, MD, MBA, has been appointed to serve as interim vice dean for clinical affairs for the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ. Dr. Gomez first joined the school of medicine in July 2017 and has been serving as the assistant dean for clinical affairs since August 2024. She also served as the interim chair of the department of gynecologic surgery & obstetrics from 2022 - 2024, before being named vice chair of the department. As the interim vice dean, Dr. Gomez will be stepping away from her role as the vice chair of the department of gynecologic surgery & obstetrics.

A Ponce Health Sciences University graduate with clinical honors, Dr. Gomez completed her obstetrics & gynecology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, where she served as an academic chief resident during her last year. After her residency, Dr. Gomez pursued a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecology surgery (MIGS) and chronic pelvic pain at Florida Hospital and Cleveland Clinic Florida.

Along with being an associate professor in the department of gynecologic surgery & obstetrics, Dr. Gomez currently serves as the director of the division of MIGS at the school of medicine and is one of the many faculty physicians who are delivering high-quality, evidence-based patient care to Southern Nevadans. Providing patient care through our associated multi-specialty academic medical practice, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Health, she primarily focuses on the management of endometriosis, fibroids, menstrual cycle disorders, vulvar disorders, ovarian cysts, and chronic pelvic pain. Dr. Gomez also serves as a member of 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s Biomedical IRB and of the peri-obstetric committee at UMC.

With a passion for resident education and research, Dr. Gomez developed an OB-GYN resident curriculum that focuses on teamwork, communication skills, and surgical development skills. Since joining the school, Dr. Gomez has received various awards, such as the Top Doctor Castle Connolly Award, the Top Doctor OB-GYN Award from the University Medical Center (UMC), and The Association of Professors of Gynecology & Obstetrics (APGO) Excellence in Teaching Award.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Nadia Gomez to her new role.

Best regards,
