Computer Science Professors Yoohwan Kim and Juyeon Jo have received a fifth year extension on their Application of Artificial Intelligence to Cybersecurity for Protecting National Critical Infrastructure sub-award grant. Granted to the Consortium on National Critical Infrastructure Security (CONCISE), a consortium of four MSI's (Minority Serving Institution) that include the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA), North Carolina A&T (NCAT), Savannah State University (SSU) and 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, the project is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)/National Nuclear Security Association (NNSA) Minority Serving Institution Partnership (MSIPP) program.
The goal of the project is to attract, educate and train minority students in the STEM fields, especially cybersecurity, formulating a sustainable workforce recruitment pipeline between the four MSIs and three DoE/NNSA laboratories – Sandi National Laboratories (SNL), Nevda National Security Site (NNSS), and Idaho National Laboratory (INL).
51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ has received $1.13M over the course of the grant, including this most recent extension of $229,326.
